Wycombe Wanderers have confirmed the exit of midfielder Alex Lowry after 18 months at Adams Park. The 23-year-old has joined Motherwell on loan, marking his return to Scotland.
Alex Lowry, a product of the Rangers academy, has joined Motherwell on loan from Wycombe Wanderers. The 23-year-old midfielder made 34 appearances for the Chairboys since arriving from Rangers in January 2025, scoring three goals. His most recent outing for Wycombe came in the 4-0 Boxing Day defeat away at Luton Town.
Lowry's departure is a significant blow to Wycombe Wanderers, who are currently 40 points behind leaders Lincoln in the League One table. The team has scored 69 goals this season, conceding 58, and is looking to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season.
Motherwell manager Alfred Johansson is optimistic about Lowry's arrival, stating that the midfielder is a technically gifted footballer who enjoys being on the ball and being creative. Johansson believes that Lowry's knowledge of Scottish football and experience will be vital for the team over the next 12 months.
Lowry said: "It's great to be back up the road. Being a Scottish football fan, everyone knows Motherwell were an outstanding team last year. But having spoken to the manager, it's already clear he has his own ideas for what he wants the team to look like, and I think even in these early stages, the identity is clear. I feel I can add to the already strong squad assembled here and I'm looking forward to kicking on this season.
