Wycombe Wanderers' former head coach Mike Dodds could be set for his fourth job in just over a year. The 40-year-old, who was in charge of the Chairboys between February and September 2025, winning just nine of his 31 games, has been linked with a move to Championship side Blackburn Rovers. Rovers recently reappointed Tony Mowbray as manager, returning four years after his first spell at the club ended. Mowbray previously worked with Dodds at Sunderland between August 2022 and December 2023. Following Mowbray’s dismissal at Sunderland, Dodds stepped in as interim boss, winning two of his three matches in charge. In total, he had three separate caretaker spells with the Black Cats, recording just four wins from 18 games, 11 of which were defeats. Dodds is currently assistant head coach at Oxford United, where former Wycombe boss Matt Bloomfield is in charge. He initially arrived at Adams Park in February 2025 after Bloomfield’s surprise departure to Luton Town, despite Wanderers sitting second in League One, having lost just four of their opening 25 matches. However, Wycombe’s form dipped significantly towards the end of the season, slipping to fifth after winning only seven of their final 16 league games. A play-off defeat to Charlton Athletic followed. A poor start to the 2025/26 campaign, with just two wins from 11 matches in all competitions, ultimately led to Dodds’ dismissal in September. It is now understood that Mowbray is keen to reunite with Dodds ahead of the upcoming season.
