Wycombe Wanderers will face Thames Valley rivals Reading in the group stages of the EFL Trophy. The Chairboys, who reached the final of the competition in 2024, have also been drawn against Bristol Rovers, as well as a Premier League Under-21 side, which will be confirmed at a later date.

The EFL Trophy group stages will mark the first time Wycombe have met Reading in this competition, and the fifth occasion the two sides have faced each other in cup fixtures.
Recent Meetings
The last meeting between the clubs outside of league competition came in August 2019, when they met at Adams Park in the first round of the EFL Cup. That match ended 1-1 before Reading progressed with a 4-2 penalty shootout victory. Alex Samuel gave Wanderers the lead just before the hour mark, but George Puscas levelled the score just four minutes later.

Wanderers will also come up against Bristol Rovers in the group stage. The two teams are no strangers in this competition, having met six times previously. Their most recent encounter in the EFL Trophy came in August 2017, when Bristol Rovers ran out 5-1 winners at Adams Park.
