Wycombe Wanderers progressed in the FA Cup with a professional 2-0 victory away at Accrington Stanley on Saturday. Goals from Connor Taylor and Daniel Harvie secured their place in the second round of the competition.

Taylor opened the scoring after just five minutes, heading home from a set-piece to give the visitors an early advantage. The defender's goal settled any nerves, allowing Wycombe to control large periods of the game with 64% of possession. Harvie doubled the lead in the 69th minute, finishing from close range after a low cross from captain Luke Leahy.

Manager Tom Hounsell made several changes to his side, handing a start to veteran striker Danny Ings. Ings was substituted in the 25th minute for Jayden Wareham after picking up a knock. The manager later confirmed the change was precautionary. "We got the job done in a tough place," Hounsell told reporters after the match. "The early goal was important and we managed the game well from there."

Wycombe's defence, marshalled by goalscorer Taylor, was rarely troubled, restricting Accrington to just one shot on target all afternoon. The hosts' frustration showed late on, with two players booked following a scuffle that also saw Taylor receive a yellow card. Wycombe's next challenge is a return to League One action at home to Huddersfield Town next Saturday. They currently sit 12th in the standings, six points off the playoff places.

Hounsell utilised his squad depth, bringing on Anders Hagelskjaer and Caolan Boyd-Munce just after the hour mark to freshen the midfield. The clean sheet was a welcome boost for goalkeeper Jamie Wildsmith and the back line, who have conceded 19 goals in 15 league games this season. The victory provides a positive platform ahead of a busy period in the fixtures list.
