Wycombe Wanderers head coach Michael Duff hailed Junior Quitirna's impact after the winger scored a superb goal in the Chairboys' 1-1 draw with Reading in the EFL Trophy. Quitirna put the Adams Park side 1-0 up on Tuesday evening with 20 minutes remaining, with a well-taken strike on his left foot. However, Reading equalised five minutes later through Liam Fraser, with the Royals getting the bonus point after winning the penalty shootout 3-1. Duff felt the winger became increasingly influential as the game progressed, particularly once Wanderers found ways to exploit Reading's shape during the second half. Speaking after the match, he said: "When we got Junior into the right positions in the second half, particularly against the way Reading were set up, he was dangerous. "We wanted our wingers to stay wide so we could play around their shape. “Because they were playing inverted, they could then take their first touch inside and find the overload in midfield, which is what we started doing." The Wycombe boss was particularly pleased with Quitirna's finish, which arrived shortly before he was due to be substituted. "It's a good goal. It's a good ball and a great first touch," Duff added. "At a couple of points it looks like he's lost control of it and you expect him to square it, but he goes on and finishes it really well. "I was pleased for him because he offers us something different. “He was coming off at that point anyway, so it was nice to see him get his reward." While Quitirna grabbed the headlines at the other end of the pitch, Duff also praised goalkeeper Mikki van Sas for a solid display between the posts. The Dutch goalkeeper made several saves during the contest and continued to impress with his distribution from the back. "I thought he had a good night," Duff said. "He made quite a few routine saves, which is no criticism because that's exactly what you want your goalkeeper to do. "It wasn't a case of him pulling off world-class saves left, right and centre, but he dealt with what he had to and used the ball well with his feet." Van Sas was beaten by a long-range effort for Reading's goal, although Duff felt there were other factors behind the strike. "He'll be disappointed with the goal because it came from so far out, but there were other factors involved too. "We ended up too deep with players on the edge of our own box and that's probably down to rhythm and match sharpness. In a normal league game, I don't think you see Anders [Hagelskjær] and Dan [Casey] dropping that deep. League standing: 13th in League One, 1 pts, 0W-1D-0L from 1 games, recent form D.
