Wycombe Wanderers’ League One fixture against Reading this Saturday will go ahead as scheduled, with the visitors choosing not to request a postponement despite three of their players being called up for international duty.
Reading boss Leam Richardson confirmed the decision, which keeps the Adams Park clash in place for supporters. Under EFL rules, clubs can ask for a league match to be called off if they have three or more players selected for internationals. Five of the nine League One games scheduled for this Saturday have already been postponed, along with seven of the eleven fixtures set for the following weekend.
Richardson's reasoning
Richardson highlighted the importance of maintaining the schedule for fans. “It's better for the supporters too,” he said. “Saturday afternoon is the ideal time to play football whenever circumstances allow, so we were pleased to keep this one in place.”
The three Reading players absent are Andy Rinomhota, who has started all six of their league games this term, Charlie Savage, and Jeriel Dorsett. Savage, 23, has made six substitute appearances in the league and earned his senior international debut last October. Dorsett has started two league matches.
Wycombe's form
Wycombe head into the match sitting 14th in League One with 9 points from their opening seven games. They are on a three-game winning run, their most recent victory a 1-0 away win at Wigan on 19 September, secured by a Dan Casey goal. The Chairboys have also recorded 1,026 goal minutes this season, a key metric tracked in our stats section. Their next fixture after this weekend is a trip to face Shrewsbury Town on October 5th. The last meeting between these sides ended in a 1-1 draw at the Select Car Leasing Stadium back in August.
With the game confirmed, Wycombe will look to continue their positive form against an eighth-placed Reading side missing key personnel. Fans can view the full schedule on our fixtures page. The match kicks off at Adams Park on Saturday afternoon.
